BBC Horse Racing: Lush Lashes tops Epsom Oaks field

This one’s about Horse Racing which I know almost nothing about. If I’ve provided some wrong information, please don’t hesitate to correct me.

Ante-post favourite Lush Lashes heads a list of 18 fillies left in Friday’s Epsom Oaks at the confirmation stage.

Although Jim Bolger has yet to commit the Musidora Stakes winner to the race, she stands her ground along with stablemate Prima Luce. Aidan O’Brien still has seven contenders to choose from while Dermot Weld has left in Chinese White. Willie Muir has paid £20,000 to add Pretty Polly Stakes winner Saphira’s Fire to the field.

She will form part of the seven-strong home defence hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Henry Cecil-trained Light Shift who triumphed 12 months ago.

Cape Amber, trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, who finished second to Lush Lashes in the Musidora, has been confirmed along with the Roger Charlton-trained Clowance and John Gosden’s Michita. Both horses claimed wins in their trials - Clowance in the Swettenham Stud Stakes at Newbury and Michita in a race at Goodwood.

The BBC Epsom Oaks Race will air on Ten Sports India from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the 6th of June.
